HORSEHAIR JEWELRY

How does the process work? It all starts when you place an order — either online or at a show. The details of your custom piece are captured at checkout, and that information allows us to begin the metalwork. While we get started on that, you can send us the hair from your horse.

How do I send the hair? Instructions for shipping hair are listed in the description of each horsehair piece. The amount of hair needed is generally about the diameter of a thin craft paintbrush. Please send us approximately 100 to 200 strands of hair (if possible), about 10 to 12 inches in length. It’s really not much. IMPORTANT! Your horse’s hair can get damaged or lost if it's not packaged properly. Be sure to package the hair in a labeled ziplock bag and place it in a padded mailer.

Does my horse need to be gone to order a piece? Not at all! Many of our customers choose to celebrate living horses. We use only a small amount of hair — often, simply grooming the tail or trimming a bit from underneath the dock (where it won’t be noticed) is enough to create several of our smaller pieces.

Do I need to wash the hair before sending it? No need! We handle all cleaning and preparation here. You can send it as-is, even if it’s dusty and dirty.

Can you get dirty hair white again? We’ll do our very best! While we can't guarantee a perfect transformation, we’ve had great success restoring even very dirty white or light-colored hair using a gentle but thorough process.

Will you return any unused hair? Yes — we return any leftover hair with your finished piece unless you request otherwise. We wash and use only what is needed for your order, and the rest is returned untouched.

How do I care for my horsehair jewelry? Wear it, enjoy it, love it! Horsehair that’s been inlaid is recessed in resin and encased in a protective channel, making it highly durable. Your piece is designed to stand up to everyday wear — including getting wet from normal life moments like hand washing, showers, and even cleaning buckets. 😉

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture like soaking in hot tubs or pools, and keep your piece away from chemicals such as acetone, hairspray, or cleaning agents, which can damage the finish and materials.

Store your piece in a dry place when not in use and wipe gently with a soft cloth if needed. Use a silver polishing cloth designed for precious metals to remove any tarnish on metal components. Clean the inlay gently with a very soft toothbrush and mild dish soap if dirt gets in the horsehair channel.

With cuff bracelets, it’s especially important to order the correct size. While they can be gently shaped to create a perfect fit, they should never be "over-bent" or repeatedly adjusted, as this can weaken the metal over time.

🎨 CUSTOM WORK

Do you accept horsehair from my horse? Yes! We specialize in creating custom pieces using your horse’s hair.

What if I don’t have horsehair — can I still order a piece? Yes! We have a supply of pre-cleaned hair in almost any color that can be used in custom pieces.

Are your designs original? All of our horsehair designs are original and our non-horsehair pieces are either original creations or carefully curated to add diversity to our collection.

How long will it take to receive my order?

  • Non-custom items typically ship within 4–7 business days.

  • Custom pieces, including horsehair jewelry, take 3–6 weeks to complete.

  • Horsehair jewelry generally has a 5-week turnaround, assuming we receive the hair promptly.

Can you accommodate rush orders? Sometimes! If you have a specific deadline (like a birthday or memorial), please reach out before ordering — we’ll do our best to help.

What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit cards — Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express — as well as PayPal.

Can I return or exchange my order?

  • Custom and engraved pieces (including horsehair jewelry) are final sale, unless the error was on our part.
